Hello Everyone!!!
Well, yesterday was my last day!!!! It turned out to be a perfect day weather wise! It was sunny and hot, with no threat of rain!! An absolutely PERFECT day!!!! There were some hills, but it only totaled to be around a 300 foot climb for the entire ride, and they were not nearly as challenging as the day before had been. After around 35 miles, the route was pretty much downhill, and we arrived to our meeting point just 3 miles out from Wallis Sands State Beach.
We all lined up, and they had a police escort for all the bikers to get us there. It was quite cool when the sirens started as we started down the last 3 miles of our journey!
What I found really amazing was the feeling I felt when I saw the first glimpse of the Atlantic Ocean -- I don't think it ever had looked so beautiful to me as it did at that moment!!!! We all turned into the parking lot of the beach, took off our biking shoes and carried our bikes to the ocean to dip our front wheel in!!! IT WAS SO AWESOME!!!!!!
After all the hugs and pictures, we hopped back on our bikes and rode a few more miles, crossing the North Bridge which brought us into Kittery, Maine... the last state line crossed on this trip!!! It is the oldest town in Maine, established in 1647! I also later came to find out, they have amazing lobster here as well!
After riding a bit through Maine, I had to return to the hotel and check in, and go to the bike shop to have my bike be shipped back home. After this, I along with some of the other bikers on this trip went out to celebrate. We started in downtown Portsmouth, which is a very cute town. Later, we again walked over the North bridge to Maine, to have lobster at Warren's, a restaurant that's there along the river. It was just a perfect way to end a perfect day!!!
So, some of the pics of the last day, I will post on facebook...as I am not able to download anything right now. One thing some of us talked about yesterday, is that all of us now will be suffering from -- now what syndrome. We've all prepared for this and looked foward to this trip for so long, now that it is over, we are all asking ourselves...now what?
I'd like to thank all my friends and family for your support and encouragement throughout my preparation and training for this ride, and during this ride as well!!! This has been an AMAZING experience!!!! 52 days seems so long ago, and I can't believe it is already over!
Take care all! Meiri.

Hey Meiri, I just read your last days' journey - it brought back so many memories for me. I went to Portsmouth, NH a few years ago and did the little drive to Kittery just for the lobster - $9.99 per pound - I think I ate at the same restaurant along the river (besides the mosquitos) it was beautiful!
