Day 34-- Quincy, IL to Springfield, IL -- 107 miles!

Hello from Springfield, IL!

Today was a good day, a long day, but a good day. The day started out as usual. We mounted our bikes and we were all on our way toward Springfield. Our support vans passed us by as they always do, but this morning shocked us all as one of the vans carrying all our luggage and our computers was driving down the highway with the back door wide open!! Immediately the staff was flooded with calls from all of us. What is amazing is that not one piece of luggage had fallen out!!!

It was EXTREMELY humid out here today, but there was a slight breeze that kept us cool for the most part. The route today was long, but much easier than yesterday, as there were hardly any hills, and we were going down most of the time. It took about 7 hours by the time I got into Springfield. I didn't take too many pictures today, as the sights were not super unique --- just more corn fields and more farms. The sights however, are much better than Kansas, as there are more trees and more green to look at, rather than just a huge empty field. We stopped through a few places called towns, which literally included one building that was closed up! One town we did stop through was of Jacksonville. We took a quick ride through the town and came to an abandoned square. On the way out, there was a mural on a building, stating that President Lincoln had presented a speech helping to abolish slavery at this abandoned square. That is one of the pics I posted. The other pic is of his home that he lived in when he lived here in Springfield. I unfortunetly, did not have time to go tour inside his home tho... will have to do that on another visit!

Tomorrow is another long ride, about 97 miles to Champagne, IL.

I'm tired, so am cutting this short tonight. Meiri
